These TALL Committee updates were given during the April 2021 TALL Executive meeting:
The Education Committee plans lunch and learn sessions for the membership. The next session is on Tuesday, April 27th and features Adam Lederer from Norton Rose Fulbright’s New York office presenting on US Legal Research. We’re also involved in planning a membership survey for later this year.
Publisher Liaison Committee
The PLC communicates concerns to publishers and vendors on behalf of TALL and keeps members informed about vendor issues. An email went out on the listserv in March with answers received from Lexis Canada as a result of our meeting with them.
Salary Survey Committee
This committee works in conjunction with CALL and has no updates at this time.
James D. Lang Award Committee
Unfortunately, there were no applications submitted and therefore, there will be no recipients of this award for 2021. As this is an annual award, there will be a call for applications for 2022.
An email was distributed to the membership to introduce the current slate of candidates and to open for general nominations. The nomination period will remain open until the deadline of April 30th. If there are any contested positions, an election will be called in May.
The TALL IT committee has been busy working on the website revision project. We have just completed an exercise where we mapped out user journeys for several key tasks that are typically completed on the site, and this helped us see more clearly some of the inefficiencies that we would like to resolve. Next, we’re going to shift to a card sorting exercise and designing prototypes for the new look!
Student Outreach Committee
No update this month.
