I have some sad news to share. Michele Miles, our former library director in the Toronto office of Fasken, who retired 10 years ago this month, has passed away. There will be a funeral next Thursday at St. John’s Catholic Church on Kingston Road. More details to come on the funeral and visitation.
Michele was an active member of several library associations and contributed to the profession in so many ways.
She served as co-chair of the Private Law Libraries Special Interest Group of the Canadian Association of Law Libraries for many years with Teresa Gleave and contributed several articles and book reviews to the association newsletter and journal over the years.
She was President of the Toronto Association of Law Libraries in 1986 when she was Manager of the Peat, Marwick Resource Centre.
She joined Fasken, Campbell & Godfrey in the 1990s and remained with Fasken until her retirement in May 2014.
Please feel free to share your memories of Michele in this post. I feel lucky to have had her guidance as I took up my role at Fasken 10 years ago. I still have the orchid she gave me.

I have confirmed that the obituary will not be posted anywhere by choice. And also no charity in lieu of flowers. I can confirm the funeral will be held Thursday, May 23 at 11:00am at St. John’s Roman Catholic church at 794 Kingston Road. |
